Math
The study of Mathematics and related problem-solving techniques transcends all disciplines and prepares students to lead meaningful and successful lives in any career choice. The Mathematics program at Suffern High School is designed to provide students with a challenging course of study that meets their interest and skill level while preparing them for continued success in future courses and programs. The study of math has relevance in countless applications in our lives, and our coursework highlights the applicability of mathematical operations and solutions in real-world problem-solving situations.
General Program Information
Students must successfully complete three years of math and pass one Common Core Regents exam in Mathematics for a Regents diploma and pass Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II Common Core Regents exams for an Advanced Regents Diploma.
Continuation in a math program is generally based upon students successfully completing any prerequisite course and passing the associated Regents examination, or obtaining both math department chair and administrative approval. Final determination of course placement resides with the school.
