Summer School

2026 Summer School Dates

  • Wednesday, July 8, 2026 through Wednesday, August 19, 2026
  • The last day of instruction is Monday, August 17, 2026. 
  • Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19, are Regent Exam dates (see info below for specifics)

Program Eligibilty

Summer School is offered to students in the Suffern Central School District, grades 9-12, who have failed a credit-bearing course and need to repeat the course for credit recovery. Any student with 30 or more absences in a full-year course may not take that course in Summer School unless approved by the principal.

Transportation

Transportation will NOT be provided for Summer School students. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the High School. Lack of transportation is not considered a legal absence. 

Currently there is no fee for Transport of Rockland (TOR) bus fares. For information regarding TOR bus routes and times, click here.

Attendance Policy

The brief duration of Summer School makes regular attendance imperative. Students are required to attend on a regular basis and are expected to participate during class. The following attendance policies apply to all students:

  • Students are expected to be in class when the period begins.
  • Any lateness in excess of fifteen (15) minutes will be considered one absence.
  • Students who have more than three (3) absences will be dismissed from the Summer School program.
  • Parents will be notified when a student is absent.
  • Students with first and third period classes must report to their scheduled period 2 location.

*Period 3: Regents Exam Review: 12:10 pm - 1:30 pm

*Regents review is only offered Monday July 27 - Monday, August 17. 

Note: Students may not select periods. 

Policies & Regulations

  • All students are expected to have a charged chromebook for class.
  • Students must follow the Suffern High School Code of Conduct.
  • Infractions of the Code of Conduct will result in consequences which will be communicated to the parent or guardian. Consequences, which may be imposed on students include, but are NOT limited to the following:
    • Warning
    • Removal from class
    • Dismissal - While all efforts will be made to remediate behaviors, students may be dismissed from a class or the program for severe or multiple infractions.
    • Referral to the appropriate law enforcement agency
  • Students must leave the building after their last summer school course. Loitering on school grounds will NOT be permitted.
