Principals
Dear Families and Students,
I hope you had a great summer and are ready for an amazing 2024-2025 school year!
During my first year as principal at SHS, I had the pleasure of getting to know many of you in this wonderful community. I visited classrooms and attended athletic, art, music, and theater events. I learned three things about SHS: (1) our students are amazing – the combination of talent mixed with humility is truly special (2) our school has a legacy of strong academic outcomes that we value (3) we continuously look for ways we can be a welcoming and inclusive community. It is these three aspects of Suffern High that have me charged up for a great upcoming school year.
One theme I heard from families, students, and staff was the desire for a clear instructional vision. And so we formed an instructional committee of teachers, parents, and students to tackle this project. We created a SHS Portrait of a Graduate, which gives us a vivid picture of what we want our seniors to possess upon graduation. This framework will serve as our “north star” and guide us in the decisions we make for our school going forward. In the coming months, we will be exploring this framework with our students, families and staff. In the meantime, take a look at this portrait with your child and ask them where they see themselves. It is my hope that this portrait will serve as a constant reminder of what is possible for our students if we keep our expectations high and our support strong.
Looking forward to seeing our students on September 4th. And remember, Spirit Week is early this year and starts on September 23rd. Be ready to bring your Mountie Pride!
