Personal Electronic Devices
Distraction-Free Learning Environment
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, Suffern High School will maintain a bell-to-bell distraction-free learning environment in accordance with New York State Education Law 2803 and Board Policy 5452.
Every student will receive a district-issued signal-blocking (Faraday) pouch. Personal electronic devices remain with the student but must stay secured and inaccessible throughout the instructional day.
Students are expected to:
- Bring their assigned pouch to school each day.
- Secure all internet-enabled personal electronic devices before the first bell.
- Keep devices secured until dismissal.
- Use only district-issued technology during class.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) has been eliminated.

Parents needing to contact their child during the school day should call the Main Office at (845) 357-3800.
Students needing to contact home may request permission to use a school telephone.
Accommodations
