If you overheard a lot of arguing coming from the Suffern High School library this morning, rest assured it was all for a good cause.
The auditorium at Suffern High School was giving off serious game show vibes this morning, but the topic was far from frivolous. ThinkFast Interactive, a mock quiz show designed to drive home the consequences of impaired and distracted driving in a fun and interactive way, made its debut in the District. The program is a partnership between the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and the New York State Department of Health.
Suffern's hockey team weren't the only Mounties who took top honors upstate this past weekend. Andrew Priest, a member of SHS's STIR program, won the GlobalFoundries STEM Award, which is given to a project that demonstrates creative use of engineering, chemistry, physics, or computer science to address a problem identified in cooperation with community or industry partners.
Suffern High School's Asian American Culture Club hosted an Asian American Night and we're happy to report that it was a huge success! Families noshed on a delicious spread of Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, and Indian dishes—as well as plenty of traditional candies. There were also performances and a fierce Squid Games competition—in other words all of the ingredients needed for a fun and festive event. Thank you to everyone who attended!
“This is one of my favorite days of the year,” Mr. McCarter told students as he welcomed eighth grade musicians to the high school for their annual practice session with the SHS orchestra and band.
